1. Oxford University - England (1922)

Oxford University (English: University of Oxford) is a university located in Oxford, United Kingdom, United Kingdom.  Although the date of its establishment is unknown, the documents showing that there was education in this city in 1096 make the university the oldest university in the English-Speaking World and the second oldest university that has continued to exist since its establishment.  The university grew rapidly in 1167, when Henry II banned English students from studying at the University of Paris.  In 1209, as a result of disagreements with the Oxford people, some academics went to the northeastern town of Cambridge and founded Cambridge University there.  Today, these two former universities are called Oxbridge.

The university was founded in 1885 by Leland and Jane Stanford, their only child Leland Stanford Jr. who died of typhoid fever the previous year at the age of 15.  Stanford was the US king and former California Governor who made his fortune as railway tycoon.  The school accepted its first students as a mixed and non-denominational institution on October 1, 1891, [2] [3].

 The roots of the university, which was established in 1701 under the name of Collegiate School, goes back to the 1640s.  Clergymen who wanted to train highly trained officials and pastors for Connecticut, then a colony, get permission to establish a school there.  Later, in 1718, the name of the school was changed to Yale in response to the donations made by Galli Elihu Yale.  In 1861, the first doctorate degree in the country was also awarded by this school.
